its not scripted well, if human beings knows what the portal is where the creatures come from and see it, they should not just stand there and watch till they land in there world, they should have left the area, while the portal is opening, it dont make sense they wait everytime till they get over then run, bad scripted

As someone who has finished all 3 seasons, I don't think they can leave that easily. They could be living there because I bet the houses are really cheap or the monsters could follow them around, who knows.
